Cox Flexion Distraction

Cox lumbar flexion distraction is a spinal decompression therapy for the relief of lower back and leg pain. Imported specialised tables perform this non-surgical technique.

This treatment lowers the intra-discal disc pressure and allows bulging discs to be reduced.

Common conditions that are able to be helped by this technique are:

  • Lumbar disc prolapse – bulging disc.
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Sciatica or radiculopathy
  • Spinal Stenosis
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Facet Syndrome
  • Lumbar or Pelvic restriction
  • Post surgical lumbar spine pain

Dr Paul Willis is New Zealand’s only certified chiropractor of Cox Flexion Distraction.

Applied Kinesiology

Dr Paul Willis became certified in Applied Kinesiology in 2001. This is a technique that evaluates normal and abnormal body function and nerve function using muscle testing. Specific muscles relate to different parts of the body including organs. A muscle tested will either be normal, weak or over working. The cause of the “weakness” can be physical (nerve irritation), chemical (nutrition/vascular), or emotional (stress). A weak muscle is usually associated with an overworking muscle elsewhere. The correction of the weak muscle will often inactivate the overworked muscle, which relieves the symptom.

Activator Technique

Activator is a gentle, low force specific adjustment technique using an instrument. It can deliver a rapid impulse (push), in a very specific direction with a very specific amount of force. It has its own assessment using leg length tests and reflex points. It incorporates the latest advances in orthopaedic, neurological and chiropractic examinations along with a unique system of administering spinal adjustments. This technique utilizes specific procedures to detect spinal joint dysfunction, analyse leg length inequality, detect body mechanical problems, and test neurological reflexes.

Spinal Manipulation

Our chiropractors have been trained in many forms of delivery of the spinal adjustment. They are members of the New Zealand Chiropractors’ Association.

Gonstead analysis helps to deliver an effective treatment approach of spinal manipulation.

Thompson utilizes specialised drop sections on our tables to deliver a comfortable low force adjustment.

Diversified is a modified chiropractic adjustment which is designed to be comfortable.
